T410 left-click, keyboard, palmrest
T410 left-click, keyboard, palmrest
Hi Y'all,
I got a T410 last spring.
For the past couple weeks the left-click button has been acting up.
Sometimes it works fine, other times, it just doesn't respond to a normal button press.
If I mash it down with a finger it will work.
Other times, I double-click and it sees at as a single-click.
Also, If i am holding the left-click button down and 'grabbing' text, it will often grab the start of a sentence, but then drop the rest.
Second issue - when I press the colon or semi-colon button : ; it often doesn't show up and I have to go back and really mash the key to get it to show up.
All other keys appear to be working fine.
The palmrest has the creak that some others have noted.
Is there any sort of adjustment or maintenance I can do to get the left-click and keyboard back to working properly?
Are there any tricks for getting the palmrest to be quieter?
Thanks and good health, Weogo

Today is your lucky day...if you bought it new then it is still under warranty. Call Lenovo servcie and they will send you a new keyboard. It only take a small screwdriver and three minutes to change out.

Re: T410 left-click, keyboard, palmrest
I presume this is the left-click from the TrackPoint buttons and not the trackpad buttons?

Bill,
Thanks, I called and a new keyboard is on its way!
Colonel, yes, this is the left-click under the space bar.
The left-click below the trackpad still works, but my hands rarely go down there!
Thanks and good health, Weogo
