Windows 7 (64bit) Recovery Media - Help please!

#1 Post by davepol » Sat Dec 11, 2010 11:40 pm

Hi Guys,
I bought my T510 with a 32 bit version. Now I upgraded my ram to 8gb and the system only recognizes 3gb. I called IBM but they want to charge me over $50 for recovery media. Is there any way i can get 64 bit recovery media by not going through the Lenovo support? I understand that as far as the license goes, it's the same for both versions. Thanks so much.
Cheers,
davepol

You can download a disc here, but it won't have the recovery partition if you care.

That is the case for retail versions, for other versions, particularly those in equipment bundles it is usually not the case.

If the CoA on your ThinkPad says that it is for an x86 version, then that is all that the bundled license covers.

None the less, you may find that the CoA key will work for a x64 version.

I was able to use my 32 bit with a clean install of WinPro7. Use ABR tool to capture the key. Works like a charm.
