Mini Dock 3 Plus - eSata/audio not working?

The Lenovo page about the dock has the following note:
Notes:
ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 eSATA and audio ports are inactive, ThinkPad eSATA and audio ports are active.
What do you suppose that means? The note comes from an asterisk about the esata port, it's not like it's related to some specific model of TP where the port doesn't work with the dock or something. Or maybe the note is worded backwards and meant to say that when the dock esata port is working the one on the laptop is disabled? Is anyone using the dock with esata to confirm it works ok?
I'm really interested in this option for my video editing, I feel like a T410 with a good processor like the i5 560M and 8GB of memory, my rendering is only going to be bottlenecked by the 2.5" hard drive, and if I can use a fast 7200RPM 3.5" drive on eSata, it should render video like a good desktop!
