Just Ordered a T510

I've been running a (actually a couple) ThinkPad R32 for about 8 years now as my primary system, and decided it was time for a replacement. So I took advantage of the 15% off on the T-series and built up a T510 for right around $1k.

Code: Select all

The only downside is I have to wait almost a month for it - it says ship date expected on January 18th or so. I was also looking at the X201's, but in the end I decided I needed more desktop area (I even kicked in the extra $50 for the HD+ display) than what the 12" X201 would do.

Now I need to figure out what to do with my old R32's :)

Congratulations...that is one sweet ThinkPad. As for the R32's...it would be very rewarding to pass them onto a family member or friend that is in need a a nice starter laptop.

I would, if I knew anyone who wanted a laptop but didn't already have something P4-class or better. It seems that the laptop market turned so quickly in the past few years that the P4's are considered almost completely irrelevant now...

I think I might set one up in my garage as an entertainment (primarily music) system. If I knew someone who wanted one, even for nothing, I would give it to them. But as it is I'd have to pay a company to take it off my hands as a "disposal fee" even though they work, which seems absurd to me.
