T410 - fan noise while battery charging

#1 Post by STS31 » Sat Jan 08, 2011 3:16 pm

Hello everyone,

I own a T410 for about a month now and still have fan noise problems. They only appear when I charge the battery. The fan speeds up and get annoyingly loud just after I plug it in. When the battery is charged or I pull the plug the fan gets silent again.

Is there a solution to this problem? I would be very happy because it's very annoying when I am at University.

It is a T410 with Nvidia Optimus.

Thank you and greetings from Germany

In Power Manager, try selecting 'Balance all parameters' under system settings, fan control, AC settings.

Hello,

thanks for your reply.
I've just tried that, but it didn't help.

This is proper behavior, the heatsink on the T410 sits very close to the battery and the system attempts to prevent excessive heat buildup there when the battery is charged to preserve the lifespan of the battery pack.
