New Keyboard for T500?

My T500 has a broken "o" key. I may try replacing the key but if that doesn't go well I'll just replace the keyboard.

How do I figure out which replacement keyboard I need to order?

Where is a good place to order the keyboard?

if your machine is under Warranty; call 1800 IBM SERV
and they will send you a replacement;

if not than unscrew few screws @bottom of laptop; usually market with ==> and you can see the FRU # on bottom of keyboard. Remember to be gentle with screws and keyboard ribbon cables.

If you search utube - there are lots and lots of video's for that (and other process) for T500 etc ,,, or look at Lenovo website using your machine Model and Serial number......
you can start here .... Warranty Lookup

Cheers

If your still in warranty then Service is the way to go. If not LaptopKey.com is the nest best place. Great videos to help explain how to put them on correctly. Here is for the T500. :)

When I bought my T500 it had the "Cheeseboard" keyboard (noted by a holey backplate). I swapped mine for a 42T3143 (from a Thinkpad T6x) I bought for about $30 on ebay which has a solid backplate. I highly recommend swapping for this keyboard as it provides a more solid typing experience. This, of course, is if you are out of warranty. Good luck. :)

I'm sure the cheeseboard your referring too, is the water resistant backplate. But if your fine without it then I'm sure the stronger keyboard may be better for some :)
