Monitors stay blank after power saving turns them off

#1 Post by kingweb » Mon Jan 17, 2011 12:42 pm

I have a T410 with a docking station and 2 external monitors. The following situation started happening almost from day one that I got the computer.
I just recently formatted and installed a clean Windows 7 (not lenovo's). The same thing started happening again a day after the install which leads me to believe that maybe it is one of the things that gets installed with windows update.

What's happening is that Windows is set to turn off my monitors after 30 minutes of no activity. When I come back to the computer, and move the mouse, the monitors don't come back on. I have to close the lid and make it go to standby, and then open up again and come out of standby to get the monitors to come on. Sometimes I have to do this 2 or 3 times until I get the monitors back on. Furthermore, sometimes when the monitors come back on and it asks me for my windows password, once I enter the password, the monitors go off again, and I have to do a standby again.

Any ideas?

Anybody, somebody?
I know this is a common problem, I saw someone write about it on a different forum, but no solutions.
