Has Lenovo improved shipping at all?

I ordered the x100e the day it was available for order last year and it took almost a month and a half to arrive....

Has anything improved since then? I ordered a T410 with a few upgrades on 4Feb, estimated ship date in on the 23rd. Can I expect this to be accurate?

From reading the T410/T510 shipping thread since October of 2010 the majority has received their machines early. I wonder if Lenovo has improved at all in their shipping department and ironed out the horrible hell from early last year? The blasted Chinese need to take a few courses in supply chain management and learn how to apply it.

just curious, i'm too excited and NEED THE MACHINE NOW!!!! I am so envious that anyone can walk into Apple and buy whatever they want and get it the same day...

seriously, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to plug in some ram and seal a box with tape! If they offered "rush delivery" like newegg does, I would gladly pay $100 more for the option.

You can always order a pre-configured model via the internet and have in a few days. That's not quite as good as Apple, but still pretty good. I think generally, when a product is first released you see more delays, but if a part you want goes out of stock, you'll wait and there's not much you can do.

Can't you just walk into Office Depot, grab a Thinkpad, pay for it and leave?

I've certainly not visited every Office Depot, but I think the coverage tends to be spotty. You're also more like to see an Edge than a classic ThinkPad. Plus they tend to be more expensive

Their website shows a lot of models... They probably don't have them all on display, but may have many of them in their storage.

Yes, their prices are higher - this is what you pay for the ability to walk into a real store and walk out with a product on the spot. I bet Apple Store isn't cheap either. :)

The internet retailers you suggested are probably a good balance of availability and variety.

That was not my experience with Office Depot when I inquired, but it has been some years. A phone call would certainly clear things up. I'd rather save the money and wait a few extra days, but that's me. Nothing's that important, my opinion of course.

ThinkPads haven't made an appearance in retail stores for good reasons probably.
I personally have never seen a Lenovo product in a big box store in Canada.

I have seen the idea brand products, but I have never seen a thinkpad in a big box store (smaller stores do have them though - and better service :D )
