Battery Maintenance / Charging Thresholds on T510 (Solved)
A couple of weeks ago I got the T510 in my signature as a work computer. As a Lenovo fan to begin with, this is an excellent way for me to test and become familiar with a computer that I one day will buy as my own personal laptop. A little unhappy with the Widescreen format, but nothing to do about that I guess..
So far there is only one thing that doesn't work like I am used to. Since this isn't my laptop and I am not the one paying for a new battery when it dies, I don't bother to take the battery out when it's in the dock. But I would like to actually change the charging thresholds to 60 and 80% to avoid keeping he battery charged to 100% all the time.
So I go to the Power Manager / Battery tab and click the Battery Maintenance button like I am used to from my T4Xs and T60. But the options for setting the charging thresholds are not there. Just a choice for "Auto" and for reseting the meter. Aren't these thresholds availbale through the Power Manager like they used to be? As soon as I am back in front of the T510, I can check versions and things like that if needed.
Thank you for any advices!

You probably have to hit the Advanced button on Power Manager. It doesn't show me the options unless it's in Advanced.

Thanks for the input. I am actually in Advanced mode. In Basic mode not even the Battery Maintenance button itself is visible.
The only thing I haven't tried is the laptop *out* of the dock. Should that make a difference? On my other Pads it doesn't but I will try it anyway before I leave this afternoon.
O'Neill: What Power Manager version are you on, btw? I am on V1.73.

Re: Battery Maintenance / Charging Thresholds on T510
Been busy the last couple of days, so I haven't had the chance to try the laptop out of the dock. But it really shouldn't matter, it works anyway on my older Thinkpads.
But can anyone with a T510, where the Power Manager battery threshold settings can be adjusted, please let me know the version number of their Power Manager? If it works for someone else with an equal version number, something else is wrong in my case. If the version is different, I will upgrade or change the version before I do anything else.
Thanks!

I'm on 3.31. O.o
Are you running XP on it?

Ah.. ok. So a 'slight' difference in versions there. Seems like I need to look into that first.
Yes, I still run XP Pro. So it's a downgrade, and maybe that left me with an older version than what's included in a factory W7 install.

Ok, last update and as information for anyone who might run into this problem in the future: An upgrade to V1.90 gave me the options to adjust the charging thresholds. This is the highest version supported by XP is 1.90, while Vista/W7 supports 3.31

Yeah, that'd make more sense. Newer versions introduce support for newer models.
Vista and 7 just got bumped to 3.40 with Power Agendas.
