new t410 with clean install...

I just got my new t410. Installed 8 gigs of memory and an ssd, installed windows 7 professional. I downloaded the thinkvatange toolbox and the update center.

Problem I'm having is the update thing didn't install two.drivers nvidia graphics and wired Ethernet. Also some functionality isn't there anymore like the on screen display when I change screen brightness and the power manager.

Do i need to install these items one by one? I was under the impression that one of the thinkvantage tools took care of everything for you?

Please guide me in the right direction.

Thanks!
Onik

Did your model of T410 ever come with Windows 7 Professional? Perhaps that is the issue. Anyway, yes you can download the drivers you need from Lenovo. In addition to the Graphics and Ethernet, it sounds like you need the Hotkey Features Integration driver, Power Manager, and the Power Management driver.

ThinkVantage System Update 4 should take care of all of the drivering.

It came with windows 7 home premium 64bit, the windows 7 professional I already owned is also 64 bit.

Thanks, I'll get them done one by one, just thought there was a single tool that took care of everything all in one shot.

Best Regards

That tool IS System Update. You install it, run it, accept license agreement, and let it install all of the drivers sequentially by itself.

I had a similar issue putting Win 7 Pro x64 on my T410s. (It came with x86.) I had to manually install the ethernet, which I downloaded direct from Lenovo, then run System Update 4 several times. The NVIDIA graphics, I noticed, had to be installed by itself to not crash.

Yup, I got it all figured out now, I had to run System Update 4, and restart my computer several times, and despite that, I still needed to install the two drivers on their own, but now it picked up everything else, and all is well.

Thanks for your inputs.
