T500 older bios flash

Hello,
I just received an e-mail from Lenovo, stating that FRU 42T0825 (which I discussed here earlier) is no longer available for purchase. And since there's no atheros 802.11n card for newer thinkpads (T4x0 / T5x0 / ...) available from Lenovo, I decided to order AR5008 one from ebay as soon as I get my BIOS ... "fixed".

I plan to flash Zender's 3.09 BIOS available from http://theboardroom.info/bios/zender-bios.html (thanks for hosting that site) onto a discrete-graphic variant of Thinkpad T500 (machine type 2082). Guide on that site suggests using flash /u "when you already have this version". However, I have 3.13 BIOS with 1.06 ECP already.

Therefore my question is - do I have to remove the CMOS battery / reset BIOS defaults / do something similar to wipe out any configuration mismatches that could possibly occur by flashing an older BIOS/ECP where a newer one was used before? Does the "flash" utility take care of it?

No power-up / HDD / BIOS password is in use and was never used on this machine.

Thanks for any comments.

I think the flash utility will take care of it. The only time I have seen it complain is if you try to flash the same BIOS version as is already on the Thinkpad.
