Click/beep combo upon restart

#1 Post by NorrisCell » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:56 am

Hi everyone.

Curious if anyone has experienced this. I have a T400, running W7 x64. If I restart from Windows, right before the computer turns off then back on, there is a click, followed immediately by an error beep. This happens twice more, then the computer restarts normally. The click sounds like a hard drive click, but the drive tests fine and works without issue in other machines. Also, this only happens if I select Restart from Windows. If I select Shut Down, it turns off without any noise, and I can turn it right back on with the power button.

The machine is under warranty, so I can send it in if necessary. Just looking for some insight as to what might be causing it. Thanks

What happens if you remove the CD drive?

Removing the drive seems to eliminate the noises. Think the drive is bad?
