tvsu Application has stopped working Win 7 x64 T410

#1 Post by Citori » Mon Feb 21, 2011 3:53 pm

I have a new T410. It came with Windows Home Premium 64 bit os, which I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (purchased from Microsoft store) before loading programs.

I encountered some issues which prompted me to check for updates, and when I attempted to get Lenovo Upgrades in TV Toolbox, I get "tvsu Application has stopped working". I have downloaded the "systemupdate40-2009-10-19.exe" and installed it but the message persists. TV Toolbox shows Lenovo Check has never occurred.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Does anyone have a suggestion or fix?

Thanks

When you installed the updates, did they include Windows 7's Service Pack 1 by any chance? System Update had been working just fine for me until I installed SP1 (T400, Win7 Home Premium x64) today, and now it just hangs on the startup splash screen. Windows Update offered some .NET 4 updates for me after installing SP1, so I might try applying those and see if the problem persists, as I think the System Update is built on .NET.

EDIT: Nope, no luck after a reboot. Looks like those .NET 4 updates or something in SP1 may have broke System Update.

DOUBLE EDIT: Thanks to the Lenovo forums, I found that I needed to install the latest System Update, found here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-73695
I installed it when it came available yesterday, but apparently it needed to be re-installed after SP1. Hope this solves your issue.
