I have a T510 with a Lenovo SSD. Am wondering if anyone has used the Seagate Momentus XT drive in the Utlra Bay and if they noticed any improvement over a 7200 HD? Thanks.

I have (roughly) the same question. Specifically, my configuration is T510 + this:

+ one of a variety of 500GB or 1TB 2.5" drives.

I have the 1st generation Momentus XT (500GB +4GB) in the UltraBay of a T410s. I am currently using it as my boot drive because the 1.8" drive that came with the PC is just too slow. I only notice much faster boot times. Everything else (loading programs, starting plugins, opening files) is the same as any other 7200rpm drive. I would say get it if you want quick boot times and lots of capacity at a low price. If you really want a fast machine, skip this and get a real 120GB Sandforce SF-2281 driven SSD.

I think it'd be pointless if it's just going to be used for data storage.
Using SSD as the main OS and a 7200 rpm drice for ultra bay (which is what I do with my T510).
It has a Intel 520 180GB & 500GB Hard Drive in the ultrabay
