T500 what is there to like?

I won a Thinkpad T500 on bid on eBay I was wondering what are the pros and cons against an R61, I got a R61 brandnew last year. I have 6GB of RAM on my current R61 and the T500 is also coming with 6GB of RAM.

With all due respect, that is a model that is one generation old and soon to be two. It has been discussed..oh I don't know..maybe 1000 times here? Have you tried a forum search?

If you got a great deal and can't afford $800+ for a new model, then it's not a bad system. The T500 was the last of the 15.4-inch 16:10 widescreen models and I believe was also the thinner chassis. Datasheet says 1.2-1.3 inches and 5.8 lbs. T510 is 1.26-1.41 inches and 5.66 lbs (T520 should be the same).

I am curious to compare the thickness to the R61, the other draw back is now I have to get an adapter to hook up to my lcd project

cause the T500 doesnt come with Svideo. I am hoping I will like the T500.

R61 15.4-inch is 14.1 x 10.2 x 1.39 – 1.52" and 6.4-6.8 lbs (depending on battery). Quite the chunky laptop

Yeah, no laptops made in any remotely recent years have S-video output. Sounds like you need a new monitor too

I like the laptop but the screen brightness is not good. Has anyone here have the same issue?

Hi my screen is CCFL, Manufacturer LTN154P3-L02. Anyone know if an R61 screen would fit on a T500?

Big update I bought an LG 15.4 screen CCFL and it worked on the T500

Looks way better than the stocked.
