SD CARD ISSUE

Hi, this is Asish. I have thinkpad T410i, O/s Windows XP 32-bit..but some how SD/MMC card slot doesn't seem to function.I checked Device manager and driver is installed every thing is normal, when i insert the SD card into the slot it shows the icon in my computer but when want to open/explore it, it returns me a message saying to format the card. I did format it but of no use again same message.I checked it with the dealer he said that it does not function with windows xp. Please suggest.

Thank you Bill for your Information. I followed the link, there were two options for windows xp, downloaded the hotfix and when i tried to install it, it gives me a error in installation..saying that "Setup has detected that the Service Pack Version of this system is newer than the update you are applying". I dont know what to do..please help. To be precise m using
OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600
