T420 HD+ panel info

#1 Post by ThinkRob » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:23 pm

I'll post a full review at some point, but for now I just wanted to share what I suppose many of us are curious about: the make/model of the T420's HD+ panel.

The answer: AUO B140RW02 V1.

The verdict: Not great, but not horrible.

Good to know. Waiting on that full review!

Did you get the NVS 4200M? Curious how well it games.

Yeah, I'd very much like to read a full review or, if you need more time for that, at some of your initial impressions (screen quality, overall responsiveness, etc.). Thanks.

Just Intel integrated. I don't game.

Overall impression so far is quite positive. Mechanically it's excellent, and performance wise it's a nice improvement over the T410 (I got the T420i w/ a Core i3.)

So, how about the display quality? Are these new displays really a step down from past years?

No. Not in terms of quality, sharpness, contrast ratio, or viewing angle -- at least not unless you're comparing to FlexView panels.

Yeah I noticed it recently too.

Not as good as I'd like it to be. *cough*overclock*cough*

O.o
It runs on DDR3?
And the test machine is an i3 Latitude...

Same here. I was hoping it would at least equal my 2-generation-old Precision M4400 with Quadro 770M.
I was looking quite seriously at the 14" Latitude 6420 with quad-core CPU (not available on T420 apparently). I'll probably end up getting a W520 now.
