CPU clock speed throttling severely

#1 Post by marcham93 » Sun Apr 17, 2011 4:23 pm

My T410s seems to throttle down to below 300mhz when ever I try to do anything intense such as playing a 3D game.

My CPU temp has never gone above 80C.

The laptop rests on a dock with sufficent air flow and cooling.

I have the latest BIOS from Lenovo.

Any ideas?

What happens if you switch it to discrete only?

I just installed TPFan Control and it shows more accurate temperatures... I guess there was something wrong with the way SpeedFan was reading everything. The temps TPFan Control show are around 80-90C.

I switched control from BIOS to TPFan Smart and that pushes the fan about 1k faster which seems to be working so far. I will continue to test.

Yeah... Some fan/temperature programs query a different value. HWMonitor queries both. TPFC tends to query the one that's generally higher.
