T400 GigE and Jumbo Frames

#1 Post by Dodge DeBoulet » Mon Apr 25, 2011 7:50 pm

I have a Netgear WNDR3700 router running OpenWRT that is configured to support up to 16K jumbo frames. My desktop PC (home built with a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard with integrated GigE NIC) works fine with a 9K jumbo frame setting, but my ThinkPad T400 doesn't. Whenever I set the frame size to anything other than the ethernet default, the laptop locks up and reboots.

Anyone else have experience with this? I performed a number of searches, but couldn't find anything relevant.

I am running the latest Intel wired LAN drivers.
(Current) T460p | i7-6820HQ | WQHD | nVidia 940MX | 72Wh Battery | 32GB RAM | 2TB Samsung 850 Pro SSD
(Retired) T420 | Core i5-2520M | HD+ | Intel HD 3000 | 57Wh Battery | 16GB RAM | 1TB + 250GB Samsung SSDs

What OS are you using?

Also, what wireless card are you using in the T400?
Try disabling that (either power it down using the switch or, failing that, in Device Manager) and try it again.
W520 (i7-2720M, Quadro 1000M), T41, 600E
Just say no to the ThinkBook Pro.

Sorry about that, I imagine OS and specific hardware information would be useful

The wireless adapter is the Intel 5100 AGN; wired is 82567CM Gigabit adapter.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64bit, 8GB of RAM. According to the Lenovo support site, the LAN (Gigabit Ethernet) driver is supplied with the OS; there's nothing to download to update it.

Also . . . I normally switch all radios off when I drop the laptop into its docking station.
