How to break in/optimize a new T520 battery?

#1 Post by Dude » Fri May 06, 2011 7:42 am

How to break in/optimize a new T520 battery? I found the thread from May 14, 2004, but wanted to make sure I have the latest info.

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... ew+battery

T520 came with 9-cell, Li-Ion.

Is the Li-Ion Standard of
1) Fully charge before using
2) Cycle from 100% down to 10%, 3 times
3) Use as need after the 3 cycle procedure

Is this the best start for a T520 battery, that hopefully will give me a couple of years of service?

I heard the batteries come pre-conditioned now.

The best thing for long usage is to set a charging threshold of about 80 to 85 percent, and avoid draining the battery beyond 10 or 15 percent.

Yeah.
I've taken to just not worrying about it. Modern battery tech takes care of itself.

Just use it.

Better things to worry about than how to recondition a new battery.

Just charge it and use it, enjoy!
