T500 external monitor messes with keyboard

#1 Post by bluidgti » Fri May 06, 2011 1:34 pm

when I connect to a external monitor or even just press Fn+F7 and do not modify the vga output settings my keyboard goes all crazy and I cant fix it unless I restart. It acts as if it is activating all kinds of hot keys. Windows will close/open with random keys. I have searched EVERYWHERE with ibm and thinkpad problems like this and cannot find a solution. please help. thanks!

So it's fine if you don't use an external monitor?

yes, everything works fine otherwise. I often have to hook up a projector at school and once I do its unusable except for the mouse.

Sounds like a 'crossed wire' with the motherboard. Probably not an easy fix.
