Wired LAN doesn't connected (wireless works fine)
Wired LAN doesn't connected (wireless works fine)
I've tried reinstalling the drivers, etc, but no anvil. I can't seem to receive any connection data. I plug the RJ45 jack in, tries to connect, but nothing works. Tried restarting the modem, etc. as well.
Is this a common problem with the T410 series? Anything I can try?

Does another laptop or desktop connect while plugged into the end of the same Ethernet cable? If you don't have another machine ask a friend over with theirs ...
Re: Wired LAN doesn't connected (wireless works fine)
Well I'm visiting Europe, and no other places to try... Im kind of suck somehow, unless someone knows what the exact problem with the wired LAN is.
I think I have the same problem with these people:

Wired LAN doesn't connected (wireless works fine)
Open up the connection settings. (Network and Sharing Center -> Left Pane, Network Adapters -> Right Click On the Wired LAN Adapter and Choose Properties)
I don't have a real computer in front of me at the moment, but look for "Advanced Settings". Make sure the IP and DNS are both set to automatic or dynamic connection.

Re: Wired LAN doesn't connected (wireless works fine)
Does the link light ever illuminate on the ethernet port when the cable is plugged in? Personally I'd start troubleshooting with one of these, although I'd make one vs buying it -

Re: Wired LAN doesn't connected (wireless works fine)
Well, I just spent an hour trying to fix the wired LAN from my hotel room, no luck.... I've installed the drivers directly from Intel this time, no go.
And yes, the green LED turns on when I plug it. There is also a second orange LED that blinks when it tries to "send" data packets.
This is annoying...

Does the adapter show up with no problems in device manager and in the Network Adapters page?
Also, immediately after you plug in the Ethernet cable check event viewer for any errors or messages related to networking.

Re: Wired LAN doesn't connected (wireless works fine)
That suggests the physical connection is probably working but there is no "service" available. In other words, you are connecting to a physical Ethernet port/switch at the other end of the cable, but that port/switch isn't connecting to anything much.oblisk wrote:And yes, the green LED turns on when I plug it. Re: Wired LAN doesn't connected (wireless works fine)
you problem is not common to any thinkpad..
i agree with billb, above, it sounds like your connection is connecting to a hub or router that is not working..
do they charge for internet service at your hotel there in belgium..?
also, please add your city or town in canada to your location..
thanks..
uhmm, another thought.. have you tried wireless..?
