T400s - SATA Adapter + 2.5" HDD, Thoughts?

Looking to upgrade the 5400 RPM 120GB drive that came with my computer, and a SSD is still very pricey. Unfortunately, this 1.8" form factor is making it a PITA to find a cost effective upgrade, as the aftermarket doesn't have too many options for it to begin with.

However, having come across this Lenovo adapter, I began to consider a new option:

This would enable me to run a Seagate Momentus Hyrbid Drive with some SSD tech in it:

Or, any proven 7200RPM drive, such as this WD:

On the hardware side, I'm still learning, so I would appreciate some feedback from the more experienced users on here. Specifically, is there any restriction in the BIOS that would prevent this 1.8" to 2.5" conversion from being plug and play?

there are no restrictions on SATA devices in modern ThinkPads.   that adapter will allow you to use any 9.5mm or 7mm thick 2.5" SATA drive available, or even your original 1.8" drive in a proper 1.8 to 2.5" adapter.
