T400 Badly fitting lid/screen.

T400 2767-12G

1440x900 LCD screen.

This is a recently purchased second hand machine, built in March 2009 and still under warranty as far as I can tell.

The hinges on the lid are not set at the same level(as measured from the surface of the lid), but sunken down, which means when the lid is closed there is a 4mm gap down one side and a 3mm gap down the other. The lugs on the inside of the lid do not engage with the holes in the front/keyboard panel as they are designed to and the 4mm gap side has developed a pronounced curve.

I've looked around the net and seen plenty of reports bemoaning the poor build quality since IBM became Lenovo. I have a T41 that is still perfect and was the main reason I got another Thinkpad, only to find such apparent bad quality.

Is there anything that can be done, either by myself or under warranty to correct this.
