How to Customize T400 Power-on-Password Screen?

#1 Post by hunterman223 » Sat Jun 18, 2011 7:25 am

I have recently customized my boot-splash with my contact details and I would like to do the same thing to the password & fingerprint prompt. I can't find anything with google on how to do this, but it was mentioned to me in another thread. I spent an hour or so picking through the decompressed ROMs of the BIOS, but I really had no idea what to look for and gave up. (Used IDA and Phoenix BIOS Editor)

Any word on how to accomplish this?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't load an image for the password prompt screens. Also pretty sure you won't find space in the ROM to shim in text output.

I can offer you this though:

I turned a Rick Astley GIF into the boot splash once, but I can't find it anymore.

Thanks for the link, but if I lost my laptop and someone turned it on, they wouldn't get past the PoP & Fingerprint Prompt, or the BitLocker PIN prompt.

I have no idea how to go about doing it, but in another thread someone mentioned that they had done it in a corporate environment (IIRC) but they couldn't share the tools used due to copyright concerns of whatever files and software was involved.
