Docking issue - video turns OFF when docked ...??

#1 Post by tbessie » Tue Jul 12, 2011 11:07 am

Hi all...

I've been running my T400 on a dock since I got it, and everything's been set up in the Presentation Manager so that external video is turned on when docked. No special video-related power settings.

This has worked fine, until recently. Now, when I turn on the T400 in the dock, I get external video. But as soon as I log on, it turns off and switches to the laptop LCD.

HOWEVER, if I open the laptop lid, video switches back to external video and turns off the LCD.

It's exactly the opposite of what it should be doing.

Anyone see this before? I'm wondering if it's a BIOS setting gone bad.

More likely a software setting.

Just force it to whatever you want it to be, it might override whatever wrong settings it remembers.
Current: X220 4291-4BG, T410 2537-R46, T60 1952-F76, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G
Collectibles: T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X32 (IPS Screen)
Retired: X61 7673-V2V, A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad
Past: Z61t 9440-A23, T60 2623-D3U, X32 2884-M5U

Just tried it - nope, didn't work. When I put the computer (in dock) to sleep, then wake it up, I see the login screen on the external monitor. When I log in, it reverts to displaying on the LCD.

Very bizarre.
