ThinkPad System Update in W7Pro Main Environment vs. Virtual

In response to one of my earlier posts, there was consensus that Microsoft Update should only be used for Microsoft programs, and Lenovo's ThinkPad Update shold be used for all ThinkPad-based applications (e.g., ThinkVantage) and drivers.

Running XPPro under the Virtual PC environment on a 64-bit W7Pro system involves doing separate Microsoft Updates for each environment (W7 and XP). But what about ThinkPad Update.??

Some of the ThinkPad Updates are based on the operating system environment it sees, and the way the ThinkPad applications and drivers interact with that operating system. Is it: necessary / desirable / catostrophic / ??? to run ThinkPad Update in each of the two operating systems environments (Virtual XP and primary W7), or should it only be run in the primary W7 environment (which is what I am dong now with apparent success)...

Not necessary.

You should install the driver pack included with the VM software (VMware Tools, Virtual PC's package, etc...) for maximum performance and stability.

Virtual machines are running on virtual hardware, i.e. there is no need to run ThinkVantage System Update in a virtual machine since the virtual machine does not see your thinkpad.

I have Windows Virtual PC XP Mode installed on my Win7 Pro x64 SP1 T410 and don't even have lenovo System Update installed in the VM. It's not needed as others have posted.
