ThinkVantage Utilities no longer display interface windows

I'm hoping that someone else has encountered this problem as well and can point me in the right direction. I have a T500 running Win7 Enterprise (64-bit) with 6GB of RAM. It has the latest updates on everything.
I recently went to make some changes in my Access Connection profiles. I started the app. It showed the splash screen and then ... nothing. No user interface window. The task was shown in the taskbar but if I clicked on it (minimize/restore) I was shown no window. No other errors or anything else.
I posted on the Lenovo forums about this and was asked to remove both Access Connections and the Lenovo Toolbox and re-install them. The person that replied to my post said that it didn't matter what order I did the re-installation. So, I did that. And, it still didn't work. I even tried installing the prior version of Access Connections and had the same outcome.
Now, I see that the ThinkVantage Power Manager application is exhibiting the same behavior. I start the application (either from the Control Panel or from the Task tray entry). It shows its splash screen and then nothing. No user interface window.
Rather frustrating to say the least. Right now both Access Connections and the Toolbox are removed from my system. I am about to remove the Power Manager application too.
Anyone else encountered this? All three of the misbehaving applications were the latest versions from Lenovo.
Thanks in advance.
