Can someone confirm the socket type?

Is it a G2 or BGA-1023?

The T420 contains a socketed Sandy Bridge Mobile i5/i7 processor, G2 socket A number of fellow Thinkpadders have upgraded the processor in their T420--at times to a quad-core i7 Mobile---so we know this to be true.

BGA 1023 is for soldered Sandy Bridge mobile CPUs, and is used on the X220, as well as the T420s, which is the slim variant of the T420.
