Dear fellow forum,

Has anybody tried upgrading 1st generation i5 to 2nd generation? is it possible?

they seems to have the same socket

I have a T410s with i5 520M. I like the build better than T420s. So, instead of upgrading to T420, I was thinking to upgrade the cpu instead.... any suggestion or ideas?

I don't believe that Sandy Bridge CPUs would be compatible with the chipset on your systemboard. Also the sockets while they may appear to be similar are not the same. (1156 or 1366 socket, vs sandy bridge 1155 socket)
