DVD Drive Power Savings Issue - T400s

I can't seem to find a way to fix this. When I boot my TP up it will show the DVD drive as being powered off. I can't find settings for this in the BIOS or the power manager software either.

When I put a disc in the drive, it won't power up. It spins the disc up, then it stops and just sits there and won't even recognize there being a disc in the drive. Preferably, I'd just disable this option because I do use my drive enough that this does bother me. I guess it's for power savings, and I suppose it does work because it prevents you from using the DVD drive :)

When I boot the machine with the disc in, then it works fine until I shut down and remove the disk.

Any ideas or other people with this issue here?

If you go into My Computer and right click on the optical drive and select to power it on? Does it now work? If yes, you need to change a power manager setting for the optical drive to prevent it from powering off...or just leave it like it is and remember to power it on next time ;).

I forgot to mention that I have tried that and it still it won't power up.

Still digging through the various power options, but I still can't find anything :??:
