Random Fn + Brightness key-combo failure? (T520)

I'm setting up a new T520 for a client right now and the machine seems generally fab in most respects.

But it seems like there is some sort of random/intermittent problem where the Blue Fn key + bright-up/bright-down key combo doesn't do anything. This seems to happen more often prior to the OS boot, but I've seen it within Windows too. (Win7 x64)

In the case of not working in Windows, using other brightness controls from software (ie ThinkVantage tools I think) the brightness worked fine, but not with the hardware buttons.

All the drivers/patches are up to date. (which obviously wouldn't affect pre-OS-boot issues) And in the case where I saw the problem in Windows, it was corrected by a reboot.

Puzzling.

Uninstall and then reinstall the Hotkey Features Integration driver, then reboot.
