HI all. I have a T42 that i used in college. I remember I thought my battery was needing replacing a friend showed me how to re-optimize the computers map of the battery power curve. I was sable to get another years worth of use out of it.

Fast forward to 2011. Eventually i replaced that battery but now that one is getting short. unfortunately i have lost the program (i can't even remember what the name of it was) that but i think it was in the power manager. Also i have lost the power manager that used to be on here when i had to reformat the hard drive. it was the one that shows the battery shaped icon and the % power remaining.

Can someone tell me how to get that program?

Thanks

Hello.

Welcome to the Forum!

Power Manager for your T42 can be found here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/researc ... MIGR-55386

Note that Power Manager usually requires Net Framework 3.0 to be first installed. You can find that here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=31

Let us know how you make out.
Any difficulty just make another post.

The "official" tool for the T42 is the Battery Maximizer. This is the one available on the Drivers & Software page.

I prefer to use the later Power Manager. The XP version can be found here:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... MIGR-70602

And the Vista version here:

It is possible that you don't have the Power Management Driver installed. Or maybe it's the .NET 3.0 framework as Thinkpad Lover suggested. Have you installed that?

yes. i had tried running power manager before i down loaded NET 3.0 framework and i got a message informing me i needed it. i downloaded it and then i got this. But any way today i went to boot up and a hear a loud clicking while nothing happens. I am guessing the hard drive died.
Thanks for the help anyway. i will keep you posted.

If you have a spare computer, or can borrow a friend's computer, you can go to Lenovo System Update, download the ethernet driver for your T42 to cd or usb thumb drive, and then transfer the driver to your machine. After you have ethernet driver installed, you can then go back to System Update on your T42 to get any other drivers you are missing.
