T420 noisy keyboard?

This is a new one for me - upgraded a user from Dell E6400 to T420 and they are complaining the keyboard is too loud.

Compared with my T520 and the original unit - the T420 is definitely the loudest of the bunch. The biggest issue appears to be the space bar.

Has anyone come across this issue? Is there a particular kbd manufacturer that I can request that might be quieter?

Regarding the spacebar, it can be noisy, as well as the enter-key. I always pop off these and apply just little drops of oil, ex. olive oil, with the tip of a knife to the different moving parts of the mechanism under the spacebar and enter-key. Sounds awkward, but it works! You can also use different kinds of grease for plastic. Dont use too much, as it will then run around the keybord when you carry the computer. Just apply to the moving parts and the surfaces of the mechanism that touches the space-bar. Be careful when you pop off the spacebar not to destroy it.
