Unlock tool
Unlock tool
Hiyall,
I have the opportunity to purchase several older Thinkpads at a very cheap price. Trouble is, they're all 'locked' by a government department and there is no chance of retrieving the passwords. I understand that there is a tool that will do the job.
Can I buy it or make it?

Made by a Forum member.
Works on most older Thinkpads up till and including xx30 models.
All you basically need is a pointed tweezer and steady hands.

Re: Unlock tool
For newer ones (from xx40 onward) you need an EEPROM reader/programmer/writer such as CH341A plus an 8-pin testclip and all sorts of weird and wonderful programs.
Plus you need to know where and what to change in the BIOS-readout.
For some of those (e.g. T440p), specific instructions/webpages have been made.
You're on your own from here on.

Re: Unlock tool
I'm not that interested. Thanks anyway.
