Rescue & Recovery issues for SL410

#1 Post by budimu » Tue May 01, 2012 2:42 pm

My SL410 turned into blue screen, not sure if it was caused by a virus, but probable. The blue screen indicated the laptop was dumping the physical memory and then restarted. Hence, after rebooted I could only access to the very first screen with Thinkpad logo then the blue screen started again. No way to get into Win 7 save mode and no response on the blue recovery button.

Since i had a back up CD (Rescue & recovery), i was able to boot my laptop using the CD and save all my data... but when i try to restore the system back to a previous date, the first step goes through smoothly but it does not automatically continue to the 2 steps ... can anyone help?

Welcome to the forum! Sorry that it's problems that have brought you to us....but happy you are here anyway.

You may have a physical hardware issue instead of a virus or software failure.

If you can boot into Rescue & Recovery (either from the HDD or from the CD), run some diagnostics. Especially focus on the RAM and HDD. I've seen problems with either cause BSOD before.
