I've got an SL500 model 2746 built in 2009
I've noticed that webcam and internal mic doesn't work.
I thought an hardware failure in the bord with cam and pair of microphone and I bought one used on ebay.
operating system still doesnt' detect webcam hardware and internal mic doesnt record nothing.

i've found in the hiden hardware the old webcam drivers . I removed the hidden device in the device manger . The recognition now doesnt dinf anything.

could you help me ?

Might be possible to look in BIOS and see if webcam and microphone are disabled. SL500 uses Ideapad BIOS so I can't walk you through it.

in BIOS all the devices are enabled

I've installed the original os with restore CD set and Hardware still issing in device manager.
Now I'm sure its an hardware failure.
I bought an used csamera too. Now I'm not so sure it is the camera issue, could be an issue on mainbaord.
I've checked the cable too.

Hi, Id like to share with you the solution.
I've opened the lcd panel and I've found the cause of the issue.
There are 4 cables cut
I don't know how it was possible..

I guess a previous owner didn't like having a webcam in the laptop.

I'm the previous owner. I bought it in the late 2009
The integrated cam worked till the 2015/2016.- only few days ago I tried to understand why it didnt work.

The cables cut wasnt in the display hinge where usually they moves .

In that case a gremlin cut the cable for you.
Either fix it by reconnecting/soldering/taping, or replace that cable.
