Folks,

remember my other thread in January about the new W,T,Xxxx series? It even made it into Chinese computer forums. Wow!

So far Gizmodo has proved that those rumors in January were right. We'll get by summer a whole bunch of new models.

NOW:
-------
Just out of curiosity this morning I went back to the same webpage of this Lenovo business partner in Germany, and...

... here we go ... another secret series:
SL 300, SL 400, SL 500

(Out from the google cache and viewed in HTML source code)
http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:TH ... =firefox-a

I wondered if they actually could be the X300 series. But those are already well known. I assume the SL series might be some Super-Light series (below 2 pounds maybe?)

No vendor can ignore the huge success of the eeePC and derivatives. Those sell like hot cakes. Maybe we get a Thinkpad daily tablet companion?

Waddaya think? Methinks there is some new stuff coming, may a response to UMPC or eeePC?

Nitpicks:

1) 15 inch + super light = ?

2) Gizmodo news != official Lenovo announcement (although I agree it's likely)

3) UMPC != clamshell. Neither the Eee nor the Mininote are UMPCs.

Only Benz releases SLs  It looks like SL was just a working name for the new X models...

That#s what I thought too, but this particular page had the X200-X500 already on their site in January. So far, they have been correct in their predictions.

I could imagine that SL200-SL500 might be the X200-X500 without the drive and slimmer too. I am thinking of a Thinkpad Air :D

Would make sense, very light (SL = Super Light) but still a great keyboard and a useful screen.

Anyways, we'll see in June what's up. New models come up every 6 months anyway in this industry.

beeblebrox,

with all respect I think you need to look again at your post from Jan.
X-series
ThinkPad X200 (11")
ThinkPad X300 (13.3")

W-series
ThinkPad W400 (14")
ThinkPad W500 (15.4")
ThinkPad W700 (17")

T-series
Thinkpad T400
ThinkPad T500

R-series
ThinkPad R400
Thinkpad R500
There is no mention X400 or X500. There was also no mention of the SL series, IP-Web was not informed about it. The W400 was just mis-information, or a Red Herring if you like.

The plan is SL300, SL400 and SL 500 going on the information that I have.
The information which I don't have, but will allow myself to speculate, is that the 3000 series will dissapear.

The X300's CPU is called SL7100. Perhaps source of confusion there?

Can you spill more of the information?

Not really, I fell into the speculative trap once and had to eat my words :( , but, as it turned out I was actually proved right in the end :D
Now if only I could be bothered to find that thread

Let me add this much, what I did today;
03:30 woken by Radio Alarm
04:20 get into car and drive to Stuttgart (428KM)
> Meeting of German Lenovo Premium Business Partners
17:05 get into car to drive home (426KM)
21:05 arrive home

An almost 600 mile round trip to have confirmed what I have already posted along with a few other tid-bits about ThinkCentres, ThinkStations, 3000 Series and IdeaPads.
For me there was nothing new, but never the less worthwhile, and the answers to specific questions were; undecided, didn't know, can't tell or the good old "change of subject".

To be honest, I don't know. I got the links from some friends in China. Also the info on the W-Series and 17" which I did not trust in the beginning. But on a Russion Lenovo dealer there were a few pictures of the W-Series.
Somehow only one is left, the others are gone, like the leaked X200 Video on YouTube.

I assume that Lenovo has immediately sent a lawyer to those sites to take down the stuff.
On the other hand: if the X300 has a CD drive and Xx00 series would have CD drives then a SLxxx would be without one and the successor of the current X-series?
Rumors, fakes and gossip....

MOD EDIT: Please trim down your excessive quoting.

In response to everyone who is doubting the existence of the sl series. Check out the following link:

http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/a ... _smbs.html

The only two supposed new models that I actually doubt that I have read about recently would be the x400 and x500 (which I've only found verified on one site).

Another decent source I found is http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/08/deta ... -r-series/

I can't speak to the vailidity of anything in the "gallery"; however, it does look relatively legitimate.

The 13in SL might be something if it's light and thin. It's like a X300 with a Graphics card and a beast of a processor!
