Just picked up the SL400, and looking at upgrades.

Hi all, I just picked up the Thinkpad SL400 for relatively cheaply via online coupons and the Lenovo direct site.
It may seem strange, but I'm looking for upgrade's on this beauty when I finally get it in my hand's.
I'm coming from an Asus 701 4G, and if you know about that device, you know where I'm coming from. After looking for a netbook that had the power and the resolution to watch 720P while flying. I finally made the concession of portability to keep the price down, and chose the SL400.
Firstly I know the chipset itself will support up to 8GB of RAM, but not sure if there is an active lock in the BIOS preventing such... Thusly, I just wanted to ask, if anyone has ventured into this realm as of yet?
I also, do not plan on using the Vista installation, or the included hard drive. I have a 30GB OCZ Vertex here waiting for it. I do not need a whole lot of space, and plan on using my portable external for media storage. I have XP 64 and have 7 64 here as well. Both of which will work fine with my intended use's. Which brings me to another question of whether or not the Expresscard slot show's any drop in battery performance during use...
I intend to add one of these to my arsenal for further media storage:
