SL500 Screen problem

Help!
Well I switched on the Sl500 only to find a black screen. The system boots into XP as I can hear the XP "welcome" sound. If I place a flash light near the screen I can, very faintly, see the desktop. Is it possible that the LCD backlight is broken? Is there anyway I can check this out?

I have the same issue. I have replaced the backlight, inverter and then the entire LCD with no success. I see two other posts on this forum. One says it is a fuse on the board and the other says the cable from the lid switch to the inverter. I PM'ed both to see what their issues were. Mine is the same as yours - - black screen with faint images. I'll keep you posted if I find a fix.
