SL300 plays movies (and all audio) at half speed

Hi, I have a frequently recurring problem- our Thinkpad SL300 plays video audio and other audio at half speed sometimes (i.e. visually). Windows XP, 3GB RAM. I downloaded all possible Lenovo updates, bios, windows, made sure power scheme is at Maximum Power settings, changed DVD software players, etc. Anything else before bringing the machine in for service (the problem is hard to reproduce because it doesn't always happen)?

The only thing that solves this is if I work on battery, but then the problem returns sometimes...
