Greetings All:
I am brand new to the forums and have acquired a nice used R400 and I am needing to get a WIFI driver or replace the card with one that supports LEAP for our internal network.
I have tried installing the Lenovo Vista drivers for the Adapter III and Windows 7 (32 bit) does not seem to want to use the driver. There is no problem with my home network, but my work requires LEAP. I did research and this is a Atheros card and I have looked at their drivers and the standard Windows 7 driver also yeilds "no joy". I am considering replacing it with an Intel card but wanted some advice or if someone has successfully setup LEAP on the system under Windows 7?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: WIFI Help
I am not familiar with Leap, but if you get an Intel card, I strongly recommend FRU 43Y6495. It is the Intel 5300 card that uses three antennas. You have to use the Intel 5300 card with the Lenovo FRU number on it because there is a BIOS lock that requires any card that is used to have come from Lenovo. Intel 5300 cards from other brands of laptops will not work, as they use a different hardware ID. There is one on ebay for $9 and free shipping right now. I don't think you will find a better deal than that.

Re: WIFI Help
Appreciate the reply. Since I posted the question, I went ahead and bought a standard Intel 6205 from Amazon and now I need to know what I need to do to mod the firmware on the card to get it to work with the R400? I saw a post someplace that it will likely not work out of the box. Help on finding a firmware image would be appreciated.
thanks,
Mike
