R500 will Not Recognize WIFI NetWork

Hello, I have an R500 with a Crucial MX100 SSD.

When I install this SSD, everything works fine (Windows 7) with the operating system. I can find all my files, etc.

BUT, it says that it cannot find ANY networks. Not that it cannot access them, but that that there are none, in spite of the fact that my home wifi is right there, and can be accessed by other computers.

The strange thing is that when I had this same SSD in a different computer (Thinkpad T500), it found the network just fine.

Any help is appreciated, I love my SSD.

Welcome to the Forum.
Is the wifi-switch ON?
Have you tried Fn-F5?

Likely to be Real black stuffs's suggestion, but in case it's not, the t500 and r500 could have different wifi cards installed. Thinkwiki lists several. So make sure you have the proper drivers installed. You could try booting a live Linux distro and seeing of it works fine. I keep several for testing and recovery use.

The T500 could have the following wifi cards....
ThinkPad 11b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter II
Intel Wifi Link 5100 (AGN)
Intel Wifi Link 5300 (AGN)

While the R500 could have these...
Intel Wifi Link 5100 (AGN)
ThinkPad 11b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter II

If the drivers are installed and the switch is in the correct position, you may have an antenna wire not connected to the card. Worth a check if all else checks out.

Did it ever work? That would have been helpful information  :thumbs-UP:
Good luck!

The wifi does work with a different hard drive, if that is what you were asking.

I will try downloading the drivers. Thanks!

A year plus late, but for the benefit of anyone who finds this thread.

My R500 did the same thing, had to go online via an Ethernet connection and download all the drivers from Lenovo. Fixed the issus immediately.
