return of the R Series: R480, R490, R14

who knew Lenovo was planning to reanimate the long dead series... just to bring it back as a China exclusive series that's pretty much the E Series with aluminium display lids.

pictures of the R480: https://tk.lenovo.com.cn/product/100029.html

15.6-inch versions exist as well (R580, R590, R15), but i couldn't find any pictures of them. so far i've managed to locate them in the user manuals of the E Series' equivalents.

guess there should be a subforum for these systems... or would they be considered an E Series with bling included?
send me a PM if you need something added or changed in the ThinkWiki, i might not be active all the time so please be patient

That link for R490 seems to be kaput.
This is the working link: https://www.thinkpad.com/device/473
Just like E490 and T490, it has no integrated graphics option, only Radeon 540X with 2GB GDDR5 option.
It starts at ¥6400 with additional ¥100 for upgrade to FHD TN display, which at that price point is pretty much a no brainer to at least get that if not IPS in 2020.
Ironically while in Chinese it advertises super thin bezels, it has a huge bottom chin compared to a T490 for example, perhaps they kept a 16:10 screen in mind and stuck with a 16:9 one in the end
