Problem in Installing Win 7 using USB on R400

#1 Post by getsandy » Mon Aug 09, 2021 11:57 am

Hi All,

I have installed new Crucial SSD 480GB on my R400. I have created bootable USB using Original R400 ISO image and set the boot order properly in BIOS.

The system boots fine from bootable USB, loads rescue and recovery page. I select the recovery media as USB.

Then it starts product recovery process and nothing happens (no progress shown) .

Please let me know if I missing something here. I want to do clean install of Win 7 using USB drive.

Thank you
Sandy

You need to use CDs for that, R400 is "too old" to work from USB for recovery.

Thank you very much for information.

One of fellow forum member helped me to get the recovery disks (DVD). I burned those disks and tried to recover.

The system boots fine and Rescue and recovery process starts. It starts with Disc 1 (OS), but there is no progress update on screen. I kept it for 5-6 hours, but no progress and it did not ask for Disc-2 also. (App & Drivers)

I am currently on BIOS 3.10.

Am I missing any step here? (Do I need to first format brand new SSD before using with R&R).

Thank you very much

Sandy

That new drive needs to be initialized first.
See e.g. here: https://eu.crucial.com/support/articles ... sd-windows
