Public Access Laptop viz-a-viz Thinkvantage technology

Hello,

I work for a library and the powers-that-be want to let patrons check out laptops for in-library use. I have been given a Lenovo R500 ThinkPad (2717 - 5GU) to configure it for public usage. Experience with patrons has taught me to keep a platform as simple and limited as possible - the fewer options for patrons the better. That being said, after loading Windows XP + Svc packs, can I install the necessary drivers that would be needed without having to install any of the ThinkVantage software? My goal is to have a platform where the ThinkVantage suite is non-existent...

Any suggestions/solutions?

thanks - Austen

You'd need a Windows disc because the restore discs will only put it back like it was, but yes you can install only the drivers. Or you could just uninstall the ThinkVantage tools you don't want.
