Hi guys,

I got this R500 with discrete VGA and the docking station 250410U (that worked fine the DVI Port with my T61)

I checked BIOS settings, i used all options but still no signal on the DVI.

Any suggestions?

Does the DVI work with the dock on the R series? I know it doesn't on my R60.

So, there is interesting information from the Tabook.

All 14" R61s indicate "DVI pass-through". All 15" R61s indicate "no DVI pass-through". Regardless of whether integrated or discrete graphics are used.

The R400s indicate "DVI pass-through", while the R500s don't say anything. By principle of omission, and the situation with the R61s, I guess it is quite likely that the R500 do not support DVI passrhough through the dock.

Hi all,

i've found that problem is not in r400/r500 but it depeneds on graphic card you have in.
We've threeR500s and one r400 in our office, two R500s with intel gma 4500mhd chipset and other R500 and R400 with ati radeon graphic card. Two R500s with intel integrated chip are unable to use DVI but other two with ATI are working without any problem. Do you think it is possible to make a complain about that fact in Lenovo?

Thanks,
S.

Yes and no.

It appears that dedicated (ATI/nVidia) graphic card models always support DVI out, but integrated Intel cards only support them on some models (e.g. T60/T61/R61 14"/R400/T400, but not R61 15" or R500). Why? Don't know.

You can complain, but doubtful it will get you anything. They never claimed it would work, in fact they often claimed it wouldn't. So from their point of view, it's working as designed.
