R500 HDD replacement, etc.

my best friend has an R500 with a dying hard drive.

She is thinking about replacing it herself, but wants to keep the Thinkvantage backup functions, etc.

Can someone advise?

you mean she wants to keep her Recovery partition?

Has she made the recovery media discs from her windows environment? if not, then she should make one ASAP, by going into start -> program -> Thinkvantage -> Create Recovery media
