Lenovo w520 Shutdown/Static Electricity Issue

If this has been discussed please direct me, I did a search but I didn't see anything. We have a growing number of internal reports (and I have verified and reproduced) that if you grip the sides of the chassis near where the speakers are (ie fingers under the chassis and thumbs on the top and squeeze hard enough to pick up the laptop) are pickup/move/shift the machine while it's running it will shutdown. This happens on battery or ac power and has been verified on at least three machines now. Lenovo support is clueless and asked us to send to the depot and we have, I am dubious that come up with anything.

My question, is this happening to others, or did we maybe just get a bad batch of laptops? (we have received and deployed over 500 so far)
