Lenovo seems to have dropped the ability to update the non-OS pieces of the software, for example WinDVD.
These packages no longer appear in the System Update list, nor in the software update page on the web nor in the driver matrix. There used to be full downloads available but finding them is very hit and miss...
Is there an organized way to find these? It makes it hard to bring a system up to full function with a Microsoft OS load.
Software updates
Re: Software updates
Good question. Nothing showed up for my new W520 aside from the ThinkVantage and driver stuff. For my W500 the original shipped software still shows up however.
W520 (4276-37U), SL400 (2374-P9C), T40p (2374-EG0)
Re: Software updates
Neither my W510 or W520 show the "applications". Another that is missing is the LCD calibration (Huey Pro for the 510, X-Rite Color Calibrator for the W520).
Re: Software updates
You could ask this question on the Lenovo support forums. Perhaps they will look into this and fix it.
